The group regularly performs as a quartet (with a vocalist) or instrumentally as a trio. Trumpet, saxophone, percussion and additional vocalists can be added to enlarge to an eight-piece group.
Hip Pocket performs recent hits by Santana and Sting as well as familiar classics by Stevie Wonder, George Benson and Steely Dan. Latin music styles such as mambo, bossa nova and samba are featured as are hip-hop beats and acid-jazz grooves by artists such as Ronny Jordan and St. Germain. The funky soul jazz of the 60s is represented by tunes like Cannonball Adderley's "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" and "Work Song" as well as Dave Brubeck's "Take Five". The group also performs originals written by group leader Adam Rohrlick.
Adam Rohrlick is a multi-instrumentalist with over twenty years of experience as a professional musician. Adam performs on guitar, saxophones and keyboards. He is also a skilled producer, arranger, songwriter and music teacher. Adam’s previous work experience includes a five-year tenure in the lounge of the Hotel Vancouver (1996-2000), and steady engagements at The Panorama Roof (1994-1995) and the Four Seasons Hotel (1993-1994).
