The Blues Magazine’s "2015 Band To Watch"
Influences include Contemporary Rock, Classic Blues, Rock, & Soul
The Villanovas have come a long way in the last 12 months since forming at music college in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Drawing their musical influences from a wide musical spectrum which includes contemporary rock bands such as Rival Sons, The Black Keys etc. The Villanovas also incorporate the best elements of classic blues, rock, and soul artists like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
The bands live set showcases their mix of electric on stage energy, and insightful but catchy song–writing which is sure to leave their tunes stuck in your head.
Rob Challice Director of CODA Music Agency – recently praised the band saying: ‘I was really impressed by The Villanovas; great to see a band so young playing rock and blues like they were born for it.’
In December 2014 the band packed out the well-known music venue Mr. Kyps in Poole, Dorset (which has hosted such acts as Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepard and The Blockheads) for their Debut EP Launch. The EP which is available in a limited run of CD’s as well as on Itunes, Amazon, and Spotify consists of 5 original tracks.
In early 2015 the band met Steve Rodford, the current drummer for the legendary British Invasion band The Zombies – famous for such hits as ‘Time of The Season’, and ‘She’s Not There’. Steve has since become a mentor to the group, and they are shortly due to be recording some new material at his studio in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
The band recently released a slick new music video for their debut song ‘Burning Planes’, which has been listed as one of ‘London Unsigned’s Top Tracks’.
