Armadillo Strings
Classical String Ensemble - Duo to Quartet
The Armadillo Strings have made musical planning smooth sailing for hundreds of event organizers over the years. Vancouver's Armadillo Strings was founded in 1989. These talented, highly trained professionals have performed in concerts and festivals, entertained at weddings, receptions, countless formal and casual functions and add an irresistable atmosphere to all occasions.
Personal backgrounds of present Armadillos includes the Vancouver Symphony, Vancouver Opera, Victoria Symphony, The Musicals Phantom, Showboat, Sunset Blvd, Miss Saison and Unforgettable. In addition, the members have performed with The Jazzmanian Devils, Mariachi Del Sol, Folk, Rock and Big Bands and have backed up such stars as Bob Hope, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles and others.
The Armadillos take great pride in their varied and extensive repertoire. With a base in Classical and Baroque music they also perform Broadway, Pop and Jazz Standards, Opera, Latin, Gypsy Music and Waltzes and are happy to fulfill special requests. |

Classical Guitar and Symphony Orchestra Violinist Duo
Classical musicians and VSO School of Music colleagues Jennie Press (violin) and Louise Southwood (guitar) have united to form a remarkable duo.. "Sequoia".
Their repertoire is extensive, including elegant Elizabethan and Baroque suites, favorites by the classical masters, fiery Spanish dances and rhythmic Latin Bossa Novas and Sambas. Their combined international performing experience and technical excellence has produced a world class ensemble which can be both exhilarating and calming, creating the perfect ambience for any event.

Derek Soros
Classical, Romantic Guitar
Derek Soros studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and obtained a diploma from Capilano College where he completed the Music Transfer Program. He continued his education at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California where he earned an Associates degree and a Bachelors degree in Commercial Music. While in Los Angeles, Derek entertained at a variety of venues including several restaurants, the California Yacht Club, corporate events, weddings and private parties.
Derek has now returned permanently to Vancouver to pursue his music career, after spending almost seven years in Los Angeles. Since his arrival back in Vancouver, he has performed at weddings, parties, and events at different locations including the Brockhouse Restaurant, the Pan Pacific Hotel and the Vancouver Airport. Derek plays classical, jazz, italian, pop, and latin music. He currently performs five nights a week (Sundays through Thursday nights) at Arriva Ristorante with his romantic guitar. |

Janelle Nadeau
Harp and Voice
Harpist and vocalist Janelle Nadeau provides a refreshing approach to the harp. This classically-trained harpist plays a variety of Celtic, Spanish and popular music as well as her own compositions.
Janelle’s experience with co-writing opened new doors for her, encouraging her to use her voice, as well as the harp, to express her music. This born-and-raised Manitoba farmer’s daughter makes her career as a harpist in Vancouver but each August Janelle returns to the family’s grain farm to help with harvest. Janelle’s small town farming roots, coupled with her humorous and charismatic persona, guarantee engaging music that will capture the hearts of any audience.
Janelle is the 2008 first place winner and the 2006 second place winner of the Winnipeg Women’s Musical Club competition. Janelle studied harp with Richard Turner, Heidi Krutzen and Rita Costanzi.
She has toured and played with world-class harpists Kim Robertson, Deborah Henson-Conant and Patrick Ball. Janelle’s musicality provides an eloquent touch to any event as she plays music that spans many genres. read more... |

Lani Krantz
Harpist adds an Elegant Touch to any occasion
Lani Krantz was born into a family of musicians in Alberta, where at an early age, she began exploring a number of instruments and musical styles. At ten, she moved with her family to Victoria BC, and there began her harp studies in the studio of Mrs. Taka Kling. Lani has completed six years of post secondary studies in harp performance, studying privately with Vancouver Symphony's Principal harpist, Elizabeth Volpe. Her studies have focused on chamber and solo performance for the harp.
Lani’s solo playing encompasses many musical styles: classical, romantic, folk, jazz, and show tunes. She has given many solo recitals in which she enjoys utilising the effects of multi-media; incorporating visual arts, music, and song, dance and theatrics into her performances. Lani Krantz is available both as a soloist and as a duo with flautist Carol Dymond. Carol and Lani have been performing together for many years, providing music for events ranging from weddings, church services, garden parties, receptions, office and dinner parties to full concert recitals. |

Rachel Fenlon

Rachel Fenlon is a rising young Canadian star on the classical singing scene. Rachel grew up in Victoria, BC, and is a graduate from the University of British Columbia, where she received her Master’s degree in opera performance, with additional training from Vancouver Opera’s Young Artist Coaching Intensive, the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy (COSI), the Vancouver International Song Institute, and the European Music Academy in the Czech Republic. She is an alumna of Vancouver Opera’s 2012 Yulanda M. Faris Young Artists Program.
Ms. Fenlon has been featured as a soloist with the Victoria Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Czech Philharmonic, the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Toronto Summer Music Festival, and City Opera Vancouver. Her solo Oratorio credits include Handel’s Messiah, Dvorák’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Magnificat, and Beethoven’s Mass in C, as well as a concert performance of Lisa in Lehár’s Das Land des L′chelns with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. read more... |

Stephen Bulat
Guitar for Any Occasion
Stephen Bulat has been playing guitar for over 35 years and has performed in a vast array of ensembles. He has lead numerous musical groups including jazz trios and quartets, broadway orchestras, mandolin ensembles and dixieland bands.
Stephen has lead orchestras and played banjo, mandolin, ukulele and guitar for such shows as The Rocky Horror Show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Jessie Richardson Awards, Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds and West Side Story.
Composition credits include full-length theatrical musical versions of Peter Pan and Cinderella and various documentaries and films including the animated film, Bunny Tales and the feature films Barnone and Shelf Life. |
