LeftCoast is a five–piece band that performs original music drawing influences from jazz to soul and funk in the style of Incognito, Bill Withers, and Roy Ayers. Bringing to the stage a funky mix of analogue keyboard loops, rich and soulful vocals, bass wizardry, brazen sax licks and fresh drum beats, LeftCoast brings a youthful, yet old school jazz funk style and energy. Made up of some of the city's finest musicians, they are set to release their debut album in March 2015.
They are the perfect band for festivals, corporate events and fundraisers and special events. As a five piece band, they are well suited to play any size of venue. They have played everywhere from weddings and corporate events at the Vancouver Convention Center, to funky soul filled nights at Guilt&Co.
The musicians have also been known to grace the stage at such places as the Pan Pacific, Hotel Vancouver and the Terminal City Club. They add class to any event with their professionalism and adept skill and artistry.
With a lifetime of professional music experience between them, the five members of LeftCoast have seasoned backgrounds in delivering a connoisseur’s blend of sonic harmonious magic. Administering a funky mix of analogue keyboard loops, rich and soulful vocals, bass wizardry, brazen sax licks and fresh drum beats, LeftCoast brings a youthful, yet old school funk image and energy to any live event.
This collection of pros channel the grooves of Chaka Khan, Joss Stone, and the like, as well as giving a healthy nod to the eras of cool jazz and bossa nova. Beyond the covers, LeftCoast weaves their own version of funk and soul with hints of jazz into their own original songs.
Some of LeftCoast's players also have quite a following as members of the party band, Groove & Tonic. Others are known for their work with the bandAu4.
