2019 Maple Blues Awards Nominee:
Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year
"Raw, authentic, trancelike & practically a debt of gratitude to the music of his birthplace, Farr carries on as a torchbearer for the state's original music... His mission is important"
Glide Magazine - Jim Hynes
Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter from Bolton, Mississippi (Charley Patton / Mississippi Sheiks) currently residing in Vancouver, BC. Since 2017, Mississippi bluesman Jimmy "Duck" Holmes has been mentoring Farr in the Bentonia Blues, an obscure style that Holmes learned directly from Henry Stuckey, who also taught Skip James.
Robert released Dirty South Blues in late 2018 to immediate critical acclaim. In 2019, Farr played his first sold out shows, including the Bentonia Blues Festival and was nominated for Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year by the prestigious Canadian Maple Blues Awards - this followed by a cancer diagnosis and emergency surgery.
Farr hit the ground running in 2020, releasing 3 albums (Gasoline, Live In EastVan & Country Supper) culminating into Farr's 16 track Country Supper - which landed on numerous 'Best of Year' lists and in similar fashion to Dirty South Blues, garnered dozens of positive reviews from critics.
"Pure and simple - Mississippi Magic! ..hypnotic spells with a lot of rural Delta & a lot of Hill Country Blues (the "hypnotic groove" of Fred McDowell , RL Burnside , Junior Kimbrough & co). Dust, stinger, & an old Harmony amp from the sixties. But also rock'n'roll ( "Girl in the Holler" ) & country outlaw ("If It Was up to Me)" - DIRTYWORKS EDITORIAL
"Country Supper is the captivating sequel to the acclaimed Dirty South Blues.. a true pearl in a primitive style with driving grooves that deserves to be heard."- ALT-COUNTRY FORUM
"A sprawling & savory collection of sixteen tracks that displays not only his versatility & talent as a songwriter & guitar player but also his deftness in melding his musical influences to create a sound of his own.. leaves us wanting and waiting for more." - AMERICANA HIGHWAYS
