Tom Arntzen is a sophisticated, swinging jazz singer/pianist. The mellow but lively repertoire of this talented musician includes music from Cole Porter, Gershwin, Duke Ellington and other composers of the great American song book, in addition to contemporary favourites. Tom Arntzen is also an excellent vocalist, performing in a croonin' Frank Sinatra-style.
Tom Arntzen grew up surrounded by the authentic Dixieland jazz of his father, Lloyd Arntzen and remembers having trouble falling asleep during the regular Saturday night jam sessions.
Tom attended the Vancouver Community College music program to study jazz and classical voice. In 1979 he began touring with a variety of musical projects as a freelance singer/keyboardist and settled in Vancouver in 1985 to pursue his musical career.
His numerous credits include Jessie and West Coast Music Award nominations for Musical Direction and Composition.
Onstage, Tom Arntzen has a natural flair for showmanship, swinging a Frank Sinatra-style number, rocking out with those all-time favourite hits from the 50’s to the 90’s, or setting an intimate mood with a ballad. His incredible range and pure talent shine through.

The Tom Arntzen Trio is comprised of three of Canada’s top jazz musicians Tom Arntzen, Evan Nigel Arntzen & Miles Foxx Hill. They perform regularly in Vancouver’s top hotels, at special events, concerts and weddings. The group can adapt to any musical situation, from intimate dinner music to lively, swinging cocktail parties, to classy, tasteful, elegant events.
This versatile group, led by the strong piano playing and singing of Tom Arntzen, delivers a solid, professional, musical experience. They are completely self-contained, providing lighting and PA systems to suit client needs. Special musical requests are welcome. The trio has a huge repertoire of songs to choose from, including standards, Gershwin, Fats Waller, Nat King Cole, jump swing, cool jazz, pop and Broadway.
Tom Arntzen also works as a composer, arranger, producer and actor. His debut jazz CD "The Turning" got rave reviews. With over 25 years working as a professional musician, Tom’s list of performance credits include a record break ing run of over 200 performances at the Arts Club Theatre as Musical Director for "Red Rock Diner".
Evan Nigel Arntzen, on sax, has been performing professionally for over 20 years. Evan is at home in a wide range of musical styles, specializing in jazz and latin. He has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz, including Cedar Walton, Campbell Ryga, Seamus Blake and Hugh Fraser.
Miles Foxx Hill has over 200 album project credits to his name for such diverse artists as P.J. Perry, the Rankin Family and Raffi. Miles also has extensive live performance credits with major Canadian talent including Jann Arden, Freddie Hubbard, Don Thompson and Oliver Jones.

3 Generations of Jazz
Lloyd Arntzen has been a fixture on the Vancouver traditional Jazz scene in Vancouver for many years. His son Tom has forged his own musical path, often playing his thunderous piano in Lloyd’s various bands, but mostly doing his own projects with his eclectic musical tastes. Now Tom’s son, Evan, a new blip on the musical radar, has hit the Vancouver scene like a bolt from the blue, and one might have expected the dynasty to veer toward funk, alternative rock, even pop.
There is, it’s true, a bit of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ irony to the Three Generations of Jazz, the act that joins the three in a celebration of vintage jazz. In reality it’s only a formalization, Tom says, of a musical melding of grandfather, father and son that’s been going on at family gatherings for years.
Regular gigs include North Vancouver’s Summer Concert Series, Crescent Beach Legion, West Vancouver’s Silk Purse, and New York’s Highline Ballroom, where shows include Tom’s wife Georgina (Vocals) brother Leif (Vocals, Trumpet) and his son Miles (Age 18 years, Vocals, Guitar, Piano,Drums).
